Privacy policy

Effective 30 September 2026

Deep End is a conversation game for two people. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

What stays on your device

The app keeps these things in your phone's local storage, so it can remember them between sessions:

None of this is sent to us or anyone else. We run no server that receives it.

When something leaves your device

Only when you choose to share it. Tapping Send feedback or Share opens your phone's share sheet, and you decide where it goes (a text message or an email, for example). What happens to it next is covered by the app you send it with.

The menu may also offer Report a problem or idea (playtest builds). If you use it, the message you write, the rating and type you pick, and an optional name are sent to the developer's feedback server, together with the screen and depth you were on, who you chose to play with (a category such as "partner" or "friend", never text you typed), whether you were offline, the app version, your browser and device type, your screen size and any error the app hit. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send. The developer stores it to fix problems and may copy the wording into a private issue tracker. To have a report deleted, email the address below.

Third parties

Deep End shares no data with any third party. The app contains everything it needs, including its fonts, and makes no network requests while you play (the only exception is a report you choose to send, described above). The website version is hosted on GitHub Pages; like any web host, GitHub receives your IP address when your browser downloads the app. See the GitHub privacy statement.

Deleting your data

In the app menu, Clear removes your feedback notes and Forget which questions we've seen removes your question history. Deleting the app, or clearing the site's data in your browser, removes everything.

Children

Deep End is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone. Feedback you choose to send is optional; giving a name is too.
